Pilates Influencer

I was recently back in Cincinnati visiting friends and family. I have rituals or routines I like to do when I am back - I take a Pilates class, I get my hair done by one of my dear friends, I have dinner with another dear friend, etc. It feels good to visit a place I spent so many years in and where I first discovered Pilates! My first Pilates certification was in Cincinnati.

This visit I stayed with a friend and her family. We’ve all known each other for too many years to mention. I was chatting with her husband when he mentioned his nagging sciatica pain. It’s funny as a Pilates instructor people are more prone to tell you about their aches and pains. Of course I told him Pilates would help and offered to send him a video with some do at home exercises.

While getting my hair done the next day, my girlfriend said, “I think I want to start doing mat Pilates.” She is not a workout person and my past attempts to entice her to Pilates failed so I stopped mentioning it. I was thrilled this was a decision she made without me twisting her arm. I offered to send her some videos to start with.

I’ve had other careers in advertising and then healthcare marketing before becoming a full time Pilates instructor. Never in those careers did I illicit the same kind of response or interest in my field of work! It’s funny how Pilates has that affect. I’d like to think it’s because my friends and family see what it’s done for me. Maybe they also see my passion and the dedication I put into it. They know it’s more than a job for me. For whatever reason, I feel like a Pilates influencer with the people around me without even trying to sell Pilates!

With that in mind, I’ve decided to relaunch my Youtube channel. I know not everyone can make it in for a class and at home resources can be a big help. During covid, I filmed a lot of videos and those are all still alive and active for your viewing. I’ve started adding new videos now, and will continue to do so. I’m still learning how to make the videos a better quality and how to edit so be patient as we improve together! Today I ordered a mic to improve the sound quality. All of the content is absolutely free! You can subscribe (and I hope you will!) and you’ll be notified when I add a new video.
