About six years ago I began following one particular Instructor and really gravitated to his approach to Pilates. I did an online workshop he offered. He came across as kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate. His style and mine when it came to designing a class were in sync.

Canceled!

Canceled! That’s a word we are seeing a lot these days. Keeneland - canceled. Kentucky Derby - canceled. the Chris Stapelton and Willie Nelson Concert - canceled. This morning I received an email informing me the Lululemon Sea Wheeze half marathon in August is canceled! I’m writing this blog on April 29th … three and a half months before the date of the race. This is becoming our new norm.

Finding My Core

If you have taken a Pilates class, watched a Pilates video, or even tried a variety of other exercises, you will often hear the phrase “Engage your core.” I believe often times the things we hear over and over again we tend to tune out, unfortunately. If we have heard it 15 times before and didn't get the concept then, we certainly aren’t getting it now!

Too Much Time Too Little Motivation

For the first two weeks of this quarantine - I got after it. I cleaned, I ran, I did Pilates, I filmed videos, I organized, I cooked, I read, I did my own nails… I was making the most of it. And then it hit me around the end of March … I had at least another month to go. Ugh. That realization hit me like a ton of bricks and took my motivation with it. What in the world was I supposed to do for a whole month or more?

How I Spent My Quarantine

When I was in grade school, each year when I returned to school after Summer break it was not uncommon to have the teacher ask the class, “How did you spend your Summer vacation?” Usually we had to write an essay or draw pictures illustrating the fun and different things we did over the Summer. I distinctly remember in second grade telling me teacher I had been to visit my grandfather. Many of the other students in class had also visited grandparents over the Summer so to me this was nothing special
