Why and How?

When I stumbled upon Pilates or more accurately was dragged by a friend, I realized very quickly the benefits to my body. I didn’t totally understand how this was different than the others activities I was doing. I was a runner, I lifted weights, I taught spinning and jumped at the chance to do most active fun events like canoe, boating, biking, etc. As I saw my body transforming in a very short period of time, I became intrigued. I wanted to know the why and the how of Pilates. It was only a few short months after my first class that I signed up for teacher training to learn more!

The Gift of Movement

In the last 24 hours I’ve received startling news about two of my friends and college sorority sisters living in Lexington, Last night I received a text from another Lexington friend wanting to make sure I had heard the tragic news about our friend’s son. He’s a junior at the same college we went to, on the lacrosse team, and a good kid. Over the weekend while on a lacrosse trip he dove into the shallow end of the pool and broke his neck at the C4 vertebrae. He needs a miracle.

I'm Not Very Good at ...

Lately, I’ve caught myself a couple times saying, “I’m not very good at decorating” or some similar statement. I’m having a house built and with that comes … a lot of decorating! it’s not going to be done for a about a year so I have plenty of time. Still, I am feeling pressure … pressure I put on myself that is to have the house designed and figured out already. I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of doing a whole house.

Use Your Smart Muscles!

We know we need to keep moving to keep healthy and fit. We also should know by now we need to use our muscles regularly.. You can’t build them and be done with it. Use it or lose it is more accurate to say! You may work harder in the beginning to get fit and then can taper back a bit to stay fit, but you can’t just quit when you get there. Muscles are meant to be moved and used.

Nice to Meet You!

I’ve moved a few times and with that comes meeting new people. It can take a while to find friends and create a new social circle. I’m always delighted when a new friend or acquaintance invites me to a get together. It’s a chance to meet more people and get to know this friend better.
